The Day of Play
Each Day flows in the same direction and we give anticipation of fun and exciting experiences that give children second-to-none early years education.
We take heed in our ethos and encourage children to express their fullest ideas and explore their creative state of mind to its maximum.

9:00am - 9:30am
Children arrive and begin initiating play and settling.
9:30am - 10:00am
We sit together (often in a circle) and talk, read and sing.
Frequently, Joe from Little Wing Music and Claire from St. Agnes Library come in at this time to read intriguing new stories and makes us dance with funky songs and musical instruments.
10:00am - 12:00pm
Firstly, a varied and delicious snack is available with some fresh, Local Dairy Milk (food intolerances catered for). Play and adventures are afoot now so we will be found either painting, acting, dancing, beach-schooling, playing poo-sticks in the river....... the list of never ending and ever-changing with the seasons is so wonderful in Porthtowan to help the children flourish as well-rounded people.

12:00pm - 3:00pm
The children sit together with the teachers and eat their packed-lunches then return to play.
The afternoon often consists of having fun as large groups together using parachutes, musical instruments and movement games to further expand on the different angles and degrees in which children have fun and learn how to engage and adapt to their world ahead. At the end of the session, the guardians collect their children and we have formal and informal discussions about their day.

Testimonials
“We were really worried about how our child would settle, but the team handled it so gently. There was no pressure—just patience and understanding. Within a few weeks, they were going in happily and now absolutely love it.”
“Since starting at Towan, our child has grown so much in confidence. They’re more independent, more expressive, and just genuinely happier.”
“What stands out is how well they understand the children. They don’t just see behaviour—they really look at what’s underneath it. Our child is much more confident now, and we feel like they’re truly ‘seen’ here.”
“The outdoor side of Towan is incredible. Our child comes home muddy, happy, and full of stories about what they’ve explored. It feels like real childhood.”
“The staff are so warm and genuine. You can tell they really care—not just about the children, but the whole family. There’s a real sense of community.”
